Vans for Kingdom Builders Day Care - $25,000-$85,000

We have nearly 30 school-aged children at Kingdom Builders. Many of them are with us before and after school and we provide a ride to school. Every day, we run 2-3 vans. The model years for our current vans are 1992 and 2002. We would like to update these. One of the kids reminds Ms. Cynthia every time we drive by a newer Ford Transit or Sprinter van that she is praying for our new vans and asks when they are coming. It would cost close to $85,000 for a newer (less than 2yrs old) van like she is looking at. of course, $25,000 would update them with 1-2 mid-2000 era vans, which would still be newer than what we have.

Day Care Furniture and Supplies - $5 to $5000

Kingdom Builders Preschool & Day Care has been in operation for almost 18 years. We have been in our current location for 12 years. Although we have periodically replaced furniture and supplies as it wears out, we always have needs for additional or replacement furniture, toys, and supplies. Additionally, we are working to open additional space on our MTC property for expansion of our Day Care ministry, particularly our school-age program. This will involve getting additional duplicate furniture and supplies.

We are working to get a specific list of needs put together but currently, any usable daycare furniture, toys, and supplies would be accepted.

Kingdom Builders - 6 yards beach sand for play ground - $170

Kingdom Builders Preschool & Day Care has been in operation for almost 18 years. We have been in our current location for 12 years. The playground for the upper school is filled with sand. Over time, the sand disappears…some of it sinking or tracked off the playground, the rest of it in the homes of our students, one shoe-full at a time! Every few years, we have to add sand to make sure that the drop-off from the sidewalk to the sand does not become dangerous. It’s that time again!

Food for Families - 4 stainless steel modular shelving units - $124.95 apiece ($499.80)

Food For Families, our Food Bank, is in need of new shelving for food storage. Shelving will be used for boxed and canned food as well as foodbank supplies. Currently, our food bank utilizes wooden hand-made shelves that were donated. However, this limits the types of storage we are able to use them for because certain foods cannot be stored on these units. Also, they tend to attract unwanted bugs. Stainless steel mesh is preferred for this application

Food for Families - 2 stainless steel tables - $129.99 Apiece ($259.98)

Food For Families, our Food Bank, is in need of new tables for sorting. Since the majority of our food is received at or near its expiration date, we must go through all food when we receive it to ensure it’s quality before storing it or distributing it. The health department prefers (often requires) stainless steel tables for food preparation in order to avoid food contamination because they are more easily cleaned. These tables would improve the quality and safety of our food sorting process.

Fence for Front Parking Lot - $18,000

We have tried to remain accessible to our community in every way possible and keep the building at ABQ Central as visually welcoming as possible. Unfortunately, or Day Care staff daily ask people to move camps away from or front door for grocery deliveries and we are the only building in the neighborhood without a front fence. This allows people to hide along the side of the building and use the area for drug use and as a restroom facility. This means that we have to serve food over the odor of feces and amidst the piles of needles. We have gotten quotes on a fence that would have large gates that we could open when the area is monitored and closed when we are unable to monitorit.

Food for Families - 2 new carts - $154 apiece ($308)

Food For Families, our Food Bank, is in need of new carts for transporting food from the trucks we use to pick it up to the sorting area. Our food pickups often include 20-30 boxes of food that need to be transported about through the building to the sorting area and then back to the storage area. Since the average age of our foodbank volunteers is in the 60s or 70s, it is not feasible for them to carry the boxes that distance. They lift the food onto the carts and transport it. Our current carts have been in use for at least 10 years, since they were donated. We have replaced casters (wheels) multiple times, but they are at the end of their life.

Replacement Fence & Gate for ABQ Central Parking Lot

Our ABQ Central location is in a pretty rough area of town. It has been our list to replace the fence & gate for some time, but it is more urgent now, since somebody stole our box truck and drove it through the gate. We are in the process of replacing the gate, but we don’t yet have the money to replace the surrounding fence. We have staff & volunteers who can build the fence from raw metal at an extremely reduced price compared to purchase and installation from a fence manufacturer (about $300 per panel instead of $1500 per panel)

Money can be given and designated for the purchase of this at: https://www.missionabq.org/donate or metal can be purchased and given in-kind, or perhaps you have raw materials laying around that you would like to donate.

Box Truck/Delivery Van - $15,000 and up

Food For Families, Grace Thrift Store, and other programs of Mission ABQ make deliveries and pickups almost daily. Our current Box truck has served us well, but was donated to us used about 15 years ago. We will soon need to replace it.

Kingdom Builders - 1,024 sq ft of Trafficmaster outoor turf for toddlers playground concrete @ $1.60/sq ft ($1,640)

Kingdom Builders Preschool & Day Care has been in operation for almost 18 years. We have been in our current location for 12 years. A large portion of our toddler playground is concrete to avoid tripping in the sand. However, we have laid carpet on the concrete to avoid falling and make it more comfortable to sit and play. The carpet is the original carpet laid nearly 12 years ago and is worn and coming up in palces. We would like to add new outdoor turf to improve this playground.

Playground and Recreational Equipment - $500 to $15,000

Kingdom Builders Preschool & Day Care has been in operation for almost 18 years. We have been in our current location for 12 years. Although we have periodically replaced playground equipment as it wears out, our current equipment is not ideal for the high-quality day care that we want to have. Additionally, we are working to open additional space on our MTC property for expansion of our Day Care ministry, particularly our school-age program and do not have the equipment we need for this facility.

Money can be given and designated for the purchase of this at: https://www.missionabq.org/donate or it can be purchased and given in-kind, or perhaps you have an item similar to this laying around that you would like to donate.

1 Commercial Mower - $1,500 to $15,000

Our MTC property is a 17-acre property and has large fields on portions of it. It is a constant battle for our staff and volunteers to keep up with mowing the property and keeping it looking nice for our neighbors and visitors and usable for our events and programs. Several years ago, we purchased a used Walker mower from a man who ran a landscaping business, but it didn’t last long. Currently, we use a small low-end Craftsman riding mower that spends more time broken than running because of the uneven ground and age of the mower. Often, volunteers are seen mowing around the buildings with a push-mower and the fields are left unmowed.

Prices for this item vary widely depending on brand, age, size, etc. We would also be helped by someone who is able to rebuild or replace the motor in our older Walker motor. We have been told that this motor is no longer in production, but perhaps you can help!

Musical Instruments - Drum Sets, Sticks, Practice Pads, etc. - $1200

As we begin our music school, we need quality instruments available on which to teach lessons. Drum Sets, Sticks, Practice Pads, etc. help us teach children that would like to learn to play drums. We need different sizes and equipment for smaller children to learn rhythms .

Musical Instruments - 3 Short-Scale Electric Guitars - $199.00 Apiece ($597)

As we begin our music school, we need quality instruments available on which to teach lessons. A short-scale Electric Guitar is an excellent instrument to begin with for the children that would like to learn to play guitar. This instrument allows for smaller children to learn rhythms and notes before growing into a full-scale heavy guitar.
